On a mountain of skulls, in the castle of pain, I sat on a throne of blood!

Just realized today, I used to work a block away from the storefront that doubled for Ray’s Occult Books in GB2.

Open until 7:00 P.M. on weekdays, midnight on Saturdays

Back in 2004 when I moved to NYC, the first job I had was working for a coffee shop on St. Mark’s Place. That area of the city became my main stomping ground for the next two years. I ate, drank, sang karaoke, got discount tattoos, and bought my comics on that street. Every day, I would walk by this little shop called Rockit Scientist Records, but never found a reason to peruse their musical selections. Who knew that it was once the facade for Ray Stantz’s business venture after the Ghostbusters were served with a restraining order banning them from their primary vocation?!?!

In the film, the address is shown as 201 St. Mark’s Place. But, if you look closely at the awning next door, it clearly has the number 31 on the front, making the Address for Ray’s 33. I know, my detective skills are mind-blowing!

Wonder who would answer if I dialed that phone number?

The area has definitely changed in the intervening years. St. Mark’s has been cleaned up, rents have gotten higher. hipsters have moved in. Rockit Scientist Records has recently closed its doors due to another rent hike. No one yet knows who or what is going to take over the storefront, but if it is a creepy supernatural bookstore, you will find me wandering the aisles. And if you happen to shop there and come across “Magical Paths to Fortune and Power”… hands off:  that book is mine!

My addiction…

Tuesday, July 17th, 2012

UPDATE: I have the best lady ever! She bought the zombie shirt for me and even hid from me for over a month. I am a truly spoiled and lucky boy.

In other shirt news… I picked this up from teefury the other day.

—————————————————————————————————————-

I have a confession. It is hard for me to admit my weakness. I try to keep it private and hidden to lessen my shame. Unfortunately, anyone who is close to me is privy to my addiction, and I fear that they may plan an intervention for me one day. BUT I CAN QUIT ANYTIME… err… really… I can.

Anyway, I can not resist a cool t-shirt design. Every day I gleefully check all the websites that sell those 24 t-shirt deals. And if they happen to have a shirt that revolves around Cthulhu or zombies, it takes all my will not to press that big shiny BUY NOW button.

Like today, for instance. Theyetee.com site has a pretty sweet design today.

Too bad I just bought a shirt last week from teefury.com. Yes, look on this shirt and weep with jealousy…

Ah, if I only had unlimited funds and closet space. I would own all the shirts!!
